"Up Is Up" is a song from "Upside Down Waterfall". It's sung by Jay Jay as he refuses to believe Snuffy saw an "upside down waterfall", and explains the laws of nature the way they are. The song is later reprised by Jay Jay, Snuffy and Tracy at the end of the episode, as the first admits Snuffy was right all along. This song serves as the seventh track of Disk 1 on the album "Jay Jay the Jet Plane: Musical Parade".
Lyrics[]
Jay Jay: Up is up,
Down is down.
Square is square,
Round is round.
Jill went up,
Jack came down,
And so did all the water.
Up and down is how a seesaw goes,
But down's the only way the water flows.
I know you think your water rose...
But you just can't fool the laws of nature.
Up is up,
Down is down.
Square is square,
Round is round.
Jill went up,
Jack came down,
And so did all the water.
Snuffy: But I know what I saw,
And the water fell high.
It fell up, up, up,
Til it touched the sky.
Believe me, hey!
Did I ever lie?
Jay Jay: No.
Snuffy: I would never fool the laws of nature!
Jay Jay: But, maybe you flew upside down,
And the water fell up 'til it hit the ground.
And it looked to you like the other way round...
So it seemed to fool the laws of nature.
Up is up,
Down is down.
Square is square,
Round is round.
Jill went up,
Jack came down, Snuffy!
And so did all the water!
Reprise[]
Jay Jay: You were right, little guy,
The water did fall high.
You saw what you saw,
You would never lie.
All: Now we'll all zoom up,
'Til we touch the sky...
And so will all the water!
Trivia[]
- The line "Jill went up, Jack came down, and so did all the water" is a reference to the nursery rhyme "Jack and Jill".
- This aired as part of the "Favorite Songs" segment following Big Jake's Team.
- In the original TV broadcasts, Jay Jay says "you just can't fool Mother Nature". On home media and PBS Kids, these words are changed to "you just can't fool the laws of nature".
Goof[]
- When Snuffy said "It fell up, up, up, til it touched the sky", Jay Jay and Tracy's voices can be heard on the word "sky" but their mouths don't move.
